Matapos suspendihin ang pagpapatupad ng implementing rules and regulations (IRR) ng Maharlika Investment Fund, sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. noong Okt. 19 na ang konsepto ng sovereign wealth fund ay “nananatiling maganda” at ito ay ipatutupad na sa pagtatapos ng 2023.
Isang araw bago nito, naglabas ang Malacañang ng isang memorandum na may petsang Okt. 12 na nag-uutos ng paghinto sa IRR ng Republic Act No. 11954 na lumilikha ng MIF. Ang pagsuspinde sa IRR habang may “nakabinbing karagdagang pag-aaral” ay lumikha ng kalituhan, kung saan marami ang nag-iisip na si Marcos ay nagdadalawang-isip tungkol sa MIF.
