A lawyer’s group specializing in international law has debunked three “lies” denying the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate the Philippine government’s controversial anti-drug campaign.
Philippine National Police and the Office of the Solicitor General had been opposing the release of documents related to the more than 20,000 drug related deaths. But last April, voting unanimously, the Supreme Court ordered the two agencies to submit the documents being demanded by families of the victims.
They called on the Senate not to pass the bill.
There’s a part in the narration by the surviving victims of Oplan Tokhang in Payatas in Quezon City last August 21 that sends chills down one’s spine.
