Social media posts are claiming that the Senate has "junked" the Articles of Impeachment against VP Sara Duterte. Not true.
The decision in the League of Cities case saw four different reversals by the Supreme Court from the first ruling in 2008 until the final decision in 2011. None of the decisions were decided on unanimously.
After saying on Aug. 6 that the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte is dead once it is archived, Senate Minority Leader Vicente Sotto III now admits the impeachment is "technically" still alive after the Senate archived the case.
Many are devastated by what they witnessed in the Senate on Wednesday. At least three Facebook posts used a video clip of Sen. Risa Hontiveros saying she will "defy the Constitution." The video was edited to mislead. The clip was extracted from her June 9 media conference where she emphasized that she would not allow the Senate to defy the Constitution in connection with the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
