A video of former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez supposedly calling for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte has been reposted by several users on Facebook (FB). This is false.

A viral FB reel published on May 10 claimed that Rodriguez has now turned his back on the Dutertes, showing a clip of him supposedly saying:

(Let’s also look for the billions of pesos stolen from the government by Vice President Inday Sara Duterte because you heard me and I will repeat, Vice President Inday Sara Duterte will be impeached and removed as vice president.)

Two other FB users reposted the same video with captions such as:

Vic Rodriguez Bumaliktad na Gustong Ma impeach si Sara Duterte (Vic Rodriguez changed his mind, wants Sara Duterte impeached)” and “Ito Ang letiral na balingbing (This is the literal turncoat).”

The circulating reels cut out significant portions of Rodriguez’s original statement from his video last year, where he called on the public to protect the vice president from impeachment.

Netizens resurfaced an out-of-context video of former executive secretary Vic Rodriguez supposedly calling for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

In the original video posted on Nov. 25, 2024, Rodriguez threw his support for Duterte by denouncing attempts to impeach her at the time. He was not backing it. The actual statement was:

(“Let’s also find the billions of pesos stolen from the government, particularly the five hundred billion pesos or so in flood control funds. Let’s also protect Vice President Inday Sara Duterte because you heard me and I will repeat, they will impeach and remove Vice President Inday Sara Duterte.)

The former executive secretary already issued a statement as early as January 2025, refuting such videos. It read:

Huwag basta maniniwala.

(There is a circulating edited video of Atty. Vic Rodriguez, published by a troll account to spread wrong information and twist his words. Don’t believe it.)

The erroneous posts circulated again on social media days before and after the 2025 midterm elections, where Rodriguez ran and lost his senatorial bid.

Published by FB users and the page KikoBam (created Feb. 17, 2025), the reels amassed 8,223 reactions, 3,039 comments and 2628 shares.
