Tropical Storm Crising (International name Wipha),continued to pour rains even after it excited July 19 causing floods and landslides.
The scientists group, Agham, said “From July 19 to 22, the combined effects of typhoon Crising and habagat hit the capital region with 573 millimeters of cumulative rainfall, as recorded at PAGASA’s Science Garden station in Quezon City. This is higher than the average rainfall for the whole month of July based on climatological normal data by PAGASA.”
The Office of Civil Defense said at least 1.9 million individuals across the country have been affected by “Crising”, hundreds of families taking refuge in evacuation centers. There are reports of deaths, injured and missing persons amidst the storm.
The almost one week downpour turned many parts of Metro Manila into murky rivers forcing the suspension of classes and government offices.
Many heeded the advice to stay indoors to keep safe which is not easy if flood waters have spilled into one’s house. Many though enjoyed the rains.
Even as prayer emojis proliferate in social media sites pleading a stop to the rains, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a bulletin to expect not one but two weather disturbances.
