Every year on April 9, the Filipino people pay tribute to those who gave up their lives for the peace and freedom that we have today.
That is the essence of Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor.
As we commemorate the sacrifices of more than 76,000 Filipino and American soldiers to the Japanese invaders 83 years ago, Filipinos today continue the battle on another venue – the streets- so that the peace and freedom that were bequeathed to us would not be in vain.
In front of the U.S. Embassy in Manila, youth rallyists call on Filipinos to ‘learn from history’ and resist the meddling of foreign powers such as the United States and Japan.
