The spirit of EDSA ’86 is alive in the hearts of those who fought the Marcos tyranny 39 years ago.

Not declaring Feb. 25 a holiday does not erase it.

Officials from different government agencies, led by the National Historical Commission, came to People Power Monument on EDSA Tuesday to remember the shining moment in Philippine history when Filipinos, estimated to number about a million, stopped the tanks and ousted the Marcos dictatorship forcing the family to leave Malacañang and flee to the United States.

The Marcoses are back in power.

Philippine democracy continues to be fragile which makes remembrance of 1986 People Power even more relevant.
