A Facebook post claims that ABS-CBN has banned comedian Vice Ganda from appearing in some of its programs after joking about former president Rodrigo Duterte which drew mixed reactions last week. This is false.
ABS-CBN has not banned Vice Ganda who remains a talent of ABS-CBN. As of Aug. 19, she continues to appear on the noontime variety show “It’s Showtime” where she has been a regular host since 2009.
Uploaded on Aug. 16, the erroneous post read:
“SH0CK NA BALITA! ABS-CBN, NAGDESISYON ng BAN kay Vice Ganda—Kontrobersya Laban sa Kanya, Ano ang Mangyayari sa Kanyang Karera?“
(Shocking news! ABS-CBN decided to ban Vice Ganda–controversy against her, what will happen to her career?)

There has been no announcement of a ban on Vice Ganda from the media company.
The comedian was absent from “It’s Showtime” for five days after getting the ire of Duterte supporters for poking fun at the ex-president’s campaign promise to go to the West Philippine Sea via jetski and his current detention at the Scheveningen Prison in The Netherlands during a concert skit last Aug. 9.
Vice Ganda returned to the program on Aug. 16 but has not publicly addressed the issue as of writing. She said her brief absence was to rest after her two-night concert with singer Regine Velasquez:
“I’m so happy to be back! Nakapagpahinga na ako. Humaba ‘yung tulog ko, nai-relax ko ‘yung legs ko (I am now well-rested. I slept longer and was able to relax my legs).”
VERA Files Fact Check earlier debunked disinformation on Vice Ganda supposedly being declared persona non grata in Davao City, the bailiwick of the Dutertes.
