FACT CHECK: Bong Go, Malasakit Centers NOT giving out P5K for school supplies, allowances

A newly created Facebook page is circulating a graphic claiming that Senator-elect Bong Go and the Malasakit Centers are giving out P5,000 for school supplies and allowance to students. This is fake.

Uploaded on May 22, the graphic bore a photo of Go with an overlay text that read:

It also carried a caption that stated:

In a May 23 advisory, Go cautioned the public against believing messages from several fake FB accounts and pages claiming that he or the Malasakit Center is giving out cash assistance to anyone who sends them a message.

“Kailanman, hindi namimigay ng pera ang ating mga Malasakit Centers dahil ang mandato nito ay ang tulungang mabawasan ang hospital bill ng pasyente,” said Go, the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463, or the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019.

He said his office is already taking steps to take down these fake accounts, “whose sole purpose is to use his name for scams and personal gain.”

The post’s caption includes a supposed registration link that only redirects users to an online shopping website.

VERA Files has previously fact-checked a similar fraudulent claim related to Go supposedly providing P5,000 ayuda to those who voted for him in the May 12 midterm elections.

The fake post surfaced six days after the Commission on Elections proclaimed the 12 winning senators for the 2025 midterm elections, where Go emerged as the top senatorial bet with 27,121,073 votes, earning him his second six-year term in the Senate.
