Several circulating Facebook posts claim that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants to stay on for six more years. This is fake.
On Sep. 13, an FB page posted an AI-generated quote card featuring Marcos’ photo with this accompanying text:
“PBBM humihinge (sic) ng another 6years (sic)!
Ayon sa kanya:
“SA DAMI NA NG NASOLUSYUNAN KONG PROBLEMA SA BANSA, KULANG ANG ANIM NA TAON. KUNG MAY MAGAGAWA PA KO PARA MAKAPAGLINGKOD SA PILIPENAS (sic), ITUTULOY KO KAHIT ANOTHER SIX YEARS.”
– BONGBONG MARCOS JR.

According to him:
‘Given the number of the country’s problems I have solved, six years is not enough. If there is more I can do to serve the Philippines, I will continue, even for another six years.”

There is no official statement from Marcos to support the claim. Neither does the supposed statement appear in credible news reports about his remarks on his 69th birthday on Sep. 13, when he was in New Delhi, India, for the BRICS Summit.
In a media interview while in India, Marcos was asked about his birthday wish for the nation. At the 0:45 mark of the press briefing video, the president said:
“It’s a big wish. I wish I will be able to get the beginnings of what we started in place, so that they continue. […] We will continue to reconstruct the government, we will continue to make it better, we will continue down the road [our] engagement [with] other countries, we will encourage trade, we will encourage diplomacy, we will always be on the side of peace. That’s what I think about.”
In any case, the 1987 Constitution bars a sitting president from seeking reelection, as stated in Article 7, Section 4.
The post was published thrice in the FB groups TEAM SARA DUTERTE and SARA DUTERTE SUPPORTERS by the FB page DDS Warriors (created June 3, 2026) and two FB users. The posts garnered a cumulative 968 reactions, 913 comments and 38 shares, as of writing.
