A photo posted on a Facebook page is claiming that senior high school under the K to 12 program will be scrapped in 2026, based on a supposed announcement from the Commission on Higher Education. This is fake.
The K to 12 program falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Education, which has not released any such announcement. CHED also denied that the post originated from them.
Published on Aug. 6, the post features a graphic card with CHED’s logo to make it appear legitimate. It includes the following text:
“CHED Announcement
DAHIL bigo na MABIGYAN ng trabaho ang mga nakapag tapos ng K12, Wala ng K12 o Senior High sa 2026. Basahin sa Post ang details”
In the caption, the user also asked viewers to share the dubious post to help inform others.

In an email to VERA Files Fact Check, CHED confirmed that the post was not officially released by them and is ” deemed inauthentic.”
“Please also be informed that matters relating to K12 are under the jurisdiction of DepEd and not of our agency. We believe that the creator of this unofficial post does not know the difference between the two agencies and used the logo of the Commission in an attempt to make their post look authentic,” the agency said.
“Still, we highly encourage that citizens practice caution when consuming and believing such media as, again, these are not officially posted by the involved government agencies,” it added.
Prior to the start of the current school year, similar claims regarding the removal of Grade 11 and kindergarten also surfaced, which were already debunked by DepEd.
On June 2, Senator Jinggoy Estrada filed a bill scrapping senior high school for failing to deliver its goals. The bill is still pending on first reading in the Senate, according to the upper chamber’s website.
The fake post includes an affiliate link to an e-commerce site, a common tactic used by bogus pages to promote online products.
As of writing, the erroneous post, published by Facebook page Educational News and Updates (created Aug. 1) has so far garnered 526 total engagements.
