A YouTube video claims that U.S. President Donald Trump is angry and will take former president Rodrigo Duterte from the International Criminal Court detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands. This is false.
There are no credible reports confirming Trump’s involvement in the case of Duterte before the ICC. The video merely shows a clip that has no connection to the claim.
Published on Aug. 19, the 20-minute video features a vlog of former Duterte spokesperson Harry Roque in a split screen that also shows a man seemingly watching him. The clickbait thumbnail and title read:
“HALA! GALIT NA SI TRUMP KUNIN NA NIYA SI DUTERTE SA ICC.
“Geyera na! Galit na SI Trump,Kunin na nya SI Duterte.”

A quick search on Google does not show any news reports about the supposed move. The White House has also not released any statement about Trump taking action or even commenting on the case of Duterte, who has been arrested and detained for crimes against humanity in relation to this administration’s drug war campaign.
A reverse image search shows that the video came from a Facebook Live broadcast of Roque on Aug. 18. In the livestream, the former spokesperson discussed the recent summit in Alaska involving Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At no point throughout the broadcast did Roque mention that Trump will take Duterte out of the ICC or that he supports the former president.
The false video appeared as the confirmation of charges hearing for Duterte approaches. The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber I has scheduled the proceedings to start on Sept. 23.
