A YouTube video claims the Supreme Court (SC) sentenced former senator Antonio Trillanes IV for presenting “spurious” bank documents of former president Rodrigo Duterte. Not true.

The SC has not issued any decision on the matter as there is no case filed against Trillanes over alleged bank deposits of Duterte that he presented in a House inquiry.

Uploaded on Nov. 20, the video’s headline read:

KAKAPASOK LANG Karma na! K0rte Umaksy0n na? Trillanes Hinat0lan na rin sa Pekeng Ebidensya kay PRRD (Just in, it”s karma! Court has already acted? Trillanes was sentenced over the fake evidence against PRRD)?”

Its thumbnail also bore the text: “SUPREME C0URT KUMILOS NA! MARCOLETA NILABAS NA PARUSA KAY TRILLANES? IYAK KA NGAYON TRILLANES (SC has already acted! Marcoleta showed the punishment for Trillanes? Cry now Trillanes).”

A graphic with the text: The Supreme Court has not issued a verdict against ex-senator Antonio Trillanes over his submission to Congress of alleged bank documents belonging to former president Rodrigo Duterte. No formal complaint has been filed against him over the matter.

There is no pending case against Trillanes in connection with documents he presented in the House Quad Committee hearing last Nov. 13 where the former senator said P2.4 billion were deposited to the joint bank accounts of the former president and his daughter Vice President Sara Duterte from 2011 to 2015.

Without a complaint filed, there is nothing for the SC or any court to resolve or litigate.

In the hearing, Duterte lost his cool and threatened to throw a mic at Trillanes after the former senator challenged him to sign a bank secrecy waiver. The ex-president denied owning the bank account and said he would hang himself if the transactions were proven true.

The Duterte camp said it plans to lodge libel charges against Trillanes but no formal complaint has been filed.

The video only showed commentary from SAGIP Party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta criticizing Trillanes for his allegations against Duterte and for cooperating with the International Criminal Court in connection with the former administration’s drug war killings.
