A viral video on Facebook claims to show footage of flooding in Lipa, Batangas due to recent heavy rains brought by the Habagat or the southwest monsoon. This is false.
On Aug. 9, an FB page presenting itself as “news tv” uploaded twice a 10-second video of severe flooding that submerged a street. The caption read:
“Baha mula sa Lipa Batangas
dahil pa din sa Habagat
Keep Safe po

(Flooding from Lipa, Batangas still caused by the Habagat. Please keep safe)
maymayph #phnewstv #NenengPH #viralpost #trendingreelsvideo)”
While the city has indeed experienced flooding recently, the video does not depict the situation in the area.
A reverse image search reveals that the clip was taken in Canlaon City in Negros Oriental on Nov. 4, 2025 during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
Regional radio station Brigada News FM Dumaguete published the video in 2025 and credited it to a netizen who originally uploaded it.

The false video surfaced after the Habagat enhanced by Typhoon Dolphin brought torrential rain in parts of Luzon and Visayas over the previous weekend. At least 15 barangays in Lipa City were affected by waist-deep flooding, with one death recorded caused by electrocution.
As of writing, the two copies posted by the FB page Ph News Tv (created July 2, 2026) amassed over 10 million views; 91,100 reactions; 11,600 comments; and 16,000 shares.
