Two YouTube videos claim that former president Rodrigo Duterte, together with the police and military, have stormed Malacañang supposedly to oust President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This never happened. The video is a clickbait.

First uploaded on March 18, one video’s headline read:

KAKAPASOK LANG NAGKAGUL0 NA! PNP at ARMY KUMANTA NA LUMUS0B MALACANANG LIZA SMUGZ TAMBA KUTING WASAK

(Just in! This is chaos! PNP and Army exposed something, charged into Malacañang. Liza, Smugz, Tamba, Kuting were destroyed).”

A day later, the same channel posted a video that carried the following headline:

KAKAPASOK LANG Grabe ito! Kamp0 ni DUTERTE Pinas0k ang MALACAÑANG PBBM FL LIZA TRILLANES DOJ NAGULAT

(Just in! This is intense! Duterte’s camp barged into Malacañang. PBBM, [First Lady] Liza [Araneta-Marcos], Trillanes, DOJ were shocked.”

Its thumbnail also bore a photo of Duterte and a platoon of soldiers, along with the text: “LUMUSOB SA PALASYO. ITO ANG MATINDING NI DUTERTE (Charged into the Palace. This is an extreme (act) from Duterte).

There was no such incident. The clickbait videos merely showed comments from netizens urging Marcos to step down. A narrator also talked about a move by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos to identify Davao-based police who are supportive of Duterte.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have denied withdrawing support from the president amid rumors of destabilization efforts going around since November 2023.

Duterte initially denied involvement in reported ouster plans against Marcos but changed tune last January when he called on the AFP and PNP to intervene should the president extend his term through charter change. The erroneous videos emerged days after former chief presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo floated a tandem of Duterte and his daughter Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for vice president and president in the 2028 elections.

Uploaded by previously fact-checked YouTube channel PINAS VIRAL NEWS, the videos have drawn a total of 24,965 interactions.
