President Rodrigo Duterte approved as a whole July 9 the draft revision of the 1987 Constitution which outlines – and prohibits – political dynasties in the country.

Members of a family who maintain or are “capable of maintaining political control” in a national, regional or local position are barred from running simultaneously or in succeeding elections.
