That’s what lawyer Boni Tacardon told supporters of detained former senator Leila De Lima who were expecting the court’s decision on Monday, June 5, on her petition for bail on a case accusing her of tolerating the widespread drug trade inside the National Bilibid Prison maximum security compound when she was Justice secretary during the administration of Benigno Aquino III.
De Lima has been in jail for more than six years for what her supporters say were trumped- up drug charges instigated by former president Rodrigo Duterte. Two drug-related charges against De Lima have already been dismissed after witnesses retracted their testimony against her.
