After the Philippines expressed readiness to host the 2026 ASEAN Summit, three YouTube videos emerged claiming that President Bongbong Marcos was chosen as the new leader of the regional bloc. This needs context.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology topped the list of agencies that had low fund use with only a 5.6% utilization rate.

This contradicts Marcos’ Executive Order (EO) No. 39 which cited a report from the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry that “global events” have also influenced the price surge.

The United Nations Environment Programme notes that methane is a hazardous gas and is 80 times more potent at warming the Earth than CO2 over a 20-year period.

A milk product that allegedly detoxifies and cleans the lungs being promoted by four Facebook pages. These are bogus claims.

A graphic circulating on Facebook claimed that the DSWD will give out a P7,000-monthly allowance for all Filipinos as part of its “Pantawid Gutom Program.” This is fake. There is no such program.

A Facebook page posted a video advertisement for a product called Innercure supposedly endorsed by cardiologist Willie Ong and his general practitioner wife Liza Ramoso-Ong. This is fake. 

A Facebook Reel is claiming that President Bongbong Marcos has recovered a bank account in Belgium that supposedly contains billions of dollars. This is fake.

A YouTube video falsely claimed that the Philippines has established a military alliance with the U.S., Japan and Australia similar to NATO.

A TikTok video claimed that a magnitude 11.9 earthquake struck California on Aug. 24. Not true.  No quake of such size has ever hit any place, and the clip that was shown occurred in Japan 12 years ago.

A YouTube channel uploaded old clips from an aerospace exhibition and falsely claimed that the bomber planes from the United States are now in the Philippines. 

A video circulating on Facebook and YouTube claims that the Philippines and Iran have formed a military alliance against China. No such pact was forged.

A graphic is making the rounds online claiming that drag performer Pura Luka Vega is dead. This is not true.

Videos posted on Facebook and YouTube falsely claimed that typhoon Hanna is twice as powerful as Super Typhoon Yolanda which devastated the country in 2013. 

A fake quote card bearing GMA News’ logo erroneously claimed that former Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes chastised Filipinos for being more upset with him than government officials who failed their campaign promises. 

A video is falsely claiming that Vice President Sara Duterte is facing impeachment charges for allegedly “stealing” P125 million from a “secret budget fund” of the OVP. 

A YouTube video claimed that President Bongbong Marcos has ordered that the price of rice be pegged at P20/kilo. This is false.

Filipinos shared an online post claiming that Meta launched a new ad campaign optimization tool powered by AI called MetaAI. This is fake.
