Robredo was responding to a question about her “edge” over other presidential aspirants. The press conference at the Sorsogon Provincial Gym was broadcast live on Facebook (FB) by local media outlets, including 102.3 Spiritfm Sorsogon.
The statement in the rehashed graphic is just one of the many fake quotes attributed to Robredo, some of them created to mock her intelligence.
Robredo never made this statement, though it resembles a real quote she made in a New Year’s video greeting to welcome 2019.
Robredo said no such thing. This post followed her statement in a media briefing where she said: “Sa totoo lang, medyo naasiwa ako na, at this point, issue pa rin sa atin ang face shield. Imbes sana na napagkakagastusan natin ‘yon, idagdag nalang natin sa pondo sa bakuna.” (To be honest, I’m annoyed that the face shield [mandate] is still an issue for us. Instead of buying more, we should increase our funds for the vaccine).
The claim was invalid then because the LP was able to submit its SOCE for the elections several days before the extended deadline set by the election body. No disqualification took place and Robredo was sworn into office as the country's 14th vice president on June 30, 2016.
A variation of the made-up statement had been debunked by VERA Files Fact Check back in June 2020.
A look at the FB post's edit history shows it was completely changed after two days.
He has addressed the proliferation of “fake” posts using his name to endorse a certain candidate.
It mimicked the quote card template of a local news media group.
The bag originally sported a print showing a man wearing a mohawk.
