Multiple posts are claiming that the House of Representatives has approved a measure to postpone the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections and move it to November 2028. This is false.
Since Aug. 4, a number of Facebook pages and accounts have been sharing two versions of a graphic card bearing the untrue claim. One carried the following text:

ORIGINAL DATE NEW DATE
NOVEMBER 2, 2026 LAST MONDAY OF NOVEMBER 2028
NATIONAL ENERGY CRISIS
EARTHQUAKE DAMAGED-SCHOOLS
FOCUS ON BANGSAMORO ELECTIONS
HIGH COST ESTIMATE ₱19 BILLION”
On Aug. 4, several lawmakers filed House Bills 10591 and 10584 seeking to move this year’s barangay and SK elections to the last Monday of November 2028, but none of these have been approved yet. HB 10583, filed the same day, proposes to move it to May 2027.
All three measures remain pending before the House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms.
At least two other similar measures are also pending at the committee level. HB 10407 and 10376 aim to move the elections to the first and second Monday of November 2028, respectively.
Moreover, the House has no exclusive power to postpone the elections.
Before a bill is approved by the House, it must first undergo a committee hearing and pass three readings. It will then be transmitted to the Senate before it is forwarded to the president to be signed into law.
Until then, the barangay and SK elections will proceed on Nov. 2, as scheduled in the calendar of activities released by the Commission on Elections. Comelec Chair George Garcia said the poll body remains prepared to conduct the elections despite the filed bills.
The false graphics surfaced amid renewed calls to delay the upcoming BSKE, which was originally scheduled for December 2025 before it was moved to November this year.
As of writing, the posts published by FB pages The Man (created Jan. 18, 2020), Rondakbayan (created Apr. 5, 2025), T5E (created Oct. 20, 2015) and two users collectively received 2,219 reactions, 448 comments, and 1,057 shares.
