Three YouTube channels posted videos with thumbnails claiming that the Landbank of the Philippines has spoken and testified for Vice President Sara Duterte in the ongoing impeachment hearings at the House of Representatives. This is false.

The first video published on April 25 has a thumbnail that featured a photo of several individuals with blurred faces holding documents, with Landbank’s name and logo displayed at the top. It bore a superimposed text that stated:

LAND BANK KUMANΤΑ ΝΑ! TUMISTIGO NAKAY VPSARA! WASAK ANG KAMARA! NIYARI SI TRILILING! LAHAT NAPAHIYA! (Landbank has spoken! It has testified for VP Sara! The House is broken! Trillanes is finished! Everyone was humiliated!)”

The 21-minute video’s title further claimed:

BIG GOODNEWS! NAGSALITA na LANDBANK PINAMUKHA KASIN0NGALINGAN ni TRILLANES LUISTR0 B0Y1NG BBM TIKL0P (Big good news! Landbank has spoken, exposing Trillanes’ lies. Luistro, Boying, BBM backed out)”

The second video published on the same day by another YouTube channel had the exact thumbnail and a title claiming in Filipino that “Landbank proved that Trillanes’ claims were wrong, and even Congress was finished.” The third channel rephrased the original video’s title and reused the picture of individuals holding documents on its April 26 video thumbnail.

In the past three impeachment hearings, no official or employee from Landbank attended and testified for Duterte before the House Committee on Justice.

A keyword search on Google yielded no news reports from any credible media organization to substantiate the claim.

In the past three impeachment hearings, no official or employee of Landbank attended and testified for Vice President Sara Duterte before the House Committee on Justice.

The image of people holding documents displayed in the three videos’ thumbnails shows the top officials of the University of the Philippines – Los Baños and Landbank during the signing of a student training agreement in 2022.

The spurious videos surfaced more than two weeks after Ramil Madriaga, the alleged former aide to Duterte, claimed during the April 14 impeachment proceeding that he “served as a dummy for the transfer of large amounts of money” for “intelligence operations” and “laundering” during the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Madriaga mentioned Landbank in his supplemental affidavit. He recalled that the patriarchal Duterte “informed” him that “two Landbank managers’ checks, which were to be delivered to one of our safe houses in Eastwood, Quezon City, in the amounts of P84.2 million and 4.8 million, respectively, were issued under my name.”

The House Committee on Justice resumed on April 29 the impeachment hearing against the vice president, zeroing in on allegations that she threatened to assassinate President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and former House speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez in 2024.
