A viral quote card circulating across Facebook, Tiktok, Instagram, and Reddit, falsely claims that American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift expressed support for former president Rodrigo Duterte and dedicated her song “Cruel Summer” to him. This is satire.

The image includes a disclaimer in the lower-left corner stating, “THIS IS A WORK OF SATIRE.” The quote appears fabricated and uses exaggerated, and humorous language including references to “TayTay Dee-gong” to create a satirical narrative.

First posted by a satirical FB page, the graphic falsely attributes a statement to Swift claiming:

“I personally supported him in the last Philippine elections—even if I wasn’t technically a registered voter there.

Love transcends borders. Democracy, after all, is a feeling. My heart is in deep sorrow knowing TayTay Dee-gong is in prison- so fragile, so misunderstood.

I even wrote and dedicated a song to him titled “Cruel Summer,” because this entire season has been especially cruel to the old man. I just hope world leaders listen to my music with an open heart… and maybe consider letting him come home.

It further carries the caption:

“Love goes beyond borders. Democracy is a feeling,” she explained.

Netizens reacted to the post with mocking and dismissive comments, emphasizing how the claim was being circulated and believed by some pro-Duterte FB users, saying:

(Go ahead if that’s what helps them heal…)”

Supporters and critics of the Duterte family have been actively engaging in comment wars, reposts, and satirical content with fabricated narratives using known personalities.
