A video showing a huge gathering, supposedly a protest rally calling for the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., is circulating online. This is false. The video was taken from a religious event in Manila last January.

On Sept. 13, a TikTok user posted a 48-second drone footage of the supposed “people power” rally attended by a massive crowd wearing shirts. An audio clip of a man reporting on the supposed gatherings in Davao and the simultaneous protests in Mendiola was overlaid.

The video bore the caption:

“GOD SAVE THE PHILIPPINES #peoplepower3🇵🇭 #2025 #corrupt #trendviralvideo #fyppppppppppppppppppppppp.”

In the audio, a man can be heard saying:

So this time around it’s not only in Davao, Admar ah. Nananawagan ang maraming grupo ngayon sa Metro Manila na Mendiola na. Hindi na EDSA. Sa Mendiola na at doon na mag-vigil ang taong bayan in solidarity with what is happening right now in Davao na parang laboratoryo na ng Martial Law. At kung paano ginahasa ang karapatan at kalayaan ng mamamayan

(While you are gathering there in Davao, there are forces that are already on their way to Malacanang soon. It is in Mendiola now to shake down Marcos Jr.’s Malacanang and get him out of power. There are calls already. They are already calling for a Black Day Protest this Sunday night. The third wave of history in the Philippines will be born to take back the government from the hands of the abusive, criminal and syndicate-minded type of government. So this time around it’s not only in Davao, Admar. Many groups in Metro Manila are now calling that it should be in Mendiola now. Not EDSA. It should be in Mendiola and the people should hold a vigil there in solidarity with what is happening right now in Davao, which is like a laboratory of Martial Law. And how the rights and freedoms of the people have been violated)….”

Other Facebook users posted copies of the video. A reader sent one of the posts to the VERA Files Misinformation Tipline for verification.

These posts are false. The video shows the Iglesia ni Cristo’s National Peace Rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila last January, not a “people power” movement for Marcos’ ouster.

The circulating video was taken during the Iglesia ni Cristo’s National Peace Rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila last January. The video does not show a massive crowd calling for the ouster of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., as some posts have claimed.

On Jan. 13, TikTok user @tagabayo uploaded the original video bearing the hashtag #nationalrallyforpeace and location tag “Quirino Grandstand, Manila.”

The TikTok user also warned others about posts that falsely attributed the clip of the peace rally to the supposed political movement.

According to the INC, the Jan. 13 peace rally, which reportedly drew around 1.5 million members, was moral and not political. While INC spokesperson Edwil Zabala said the aim of the rally was for the country’s peace, they did express support for Marcos’ previous stance against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.

The false video circulated on the same day that anti-corruption groups held a protest march along EDSA Shrine to the People Power Monument in Quezon City. This was in relation to the ongoing investigations into the government’s anomalous flood control projects.

The Duterte camp’s Hakbang ng Maisug movement also protested at the People Power Monument the same day. Days prior, social media pages showing support for the Dutertes posted a call for “people power 3” on EDSA last Sept. 13.

VERA Files has debunked other religious activities passed off as political rallies.
