LIGAYA Patañaga, 81, was the first voter to experience the relative comfort of voting at the accessible polling place (APP) at SM Manila for the barangay elections.

She was all-praises for the voting center, which was very convenient for her compared to the Araullo High School, where she always had to endure the long climb to the third floor just to cast her ballot.

Patañaga is among the 36 of the 817 voters from Barangay 659 who enjoyed the privilege of voting at SM Manila.

Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) from the three clustered precincts of Barangay 659 had the option to cast their votes either at the school or at SM Manila, following Resolution 9797 of the Commission on Elections, which allows the creation of accessible precincts in SM malls from four pilot areas.

The elderly and PWD voters of Barangay Sabang, Lipa can vote in SM Lipa, those from Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City in SM Cebu, while those from Barangay Lagao, in General Santos City can vote in SM GenSan.
