The self-proclaimed “Son of God” did not descend from heaven on the wings of angels when he came to the Pasig Regional Trial Court Sept. 13.
He arrived in a heavily-guarded van wearing a bullet-proof vest, his head protected by a helmet, his face almost covered by a mask, his handcuffed hands wrapped in a shawl.
He pleaded not guilty to the non-bailable charge of qualified human trafficking during the inquest and pre-trial hearing. His co-accused- Jackielyn Roy, Cresente Canada, Paulene Canada, Ingrid Canada, and Sylvia Cemañes –also entered a not guilty plea during their arraignment.
Quiboloy faces other charges including child abuse. He is also wanted in the United States for a string of cases that includes sex trafficking of children and bulk cash smuggling.
Quiboloy was arrested after he surrendered to authorities on Sept. 8 ending a 16-day search for him at his sprawling compound in Davao City. He is currently detained at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
