Motor vehicle law highlights children’s rights to proper care and safety
The Child Safety in Motor Vehicle Act (RA 11229), which takes effect in February next year, aims to prevent more child fatalities from road crashes. During the one-year transitory period, the LTO will also be implementing a nationwide training program to build the capacity of its men in enforcing the law’s provisions and procedures.

The final IRR is expected to be released this month and the law will then be fully implemented one year after.
Use of car seats to protect children now a law
A toddler sitting on an adult’s lap or a small child unbuckled at the back of a moving vehicle is no longer allowed under this new law.
