WHAT WAS CLAIMED

Nadine Lustre filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte.

OUR VERDICT

Several TikTok and Facebook accounts are circulating a supposed news graphic claiming that actress Nadine Lustre has filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte. This is false.

First posted by a TikTok user on Feb. 16, the “breaking news” graphic showed a photo of Lustre and her partner, Filipino-French entrepreneur Christophe Bariou, alongside Mamamayang Liberal Party-list Rep. Leila de Lima, each of them holding a document. A headline read:

ACTRESS NA SI NADINE LUSTRE ISA SA NAG FILE NG IMPEACHMENT LABAN KAY VP SARA DUTERTE

(Actress Nadine Lustre is among those who filed an impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte).”

At least two FB accounts re-uploaded the graphic card on Feb. 17 and 18.

Four impeachment complaints against the vice president have been lodged at the House of Representatives by lawmakers, lawyers and other sectoral groups since January. Lustre is not among the complainants in any of these petitions.

This photo shows Nadine Lustre, Christophe Bariou and Rep. Leila de Lima on Feb. 10 filing two bills and a resolution on animal welfare, plant-based health and environmental issues.

Moreover, the photo of Lustre, Bariou and De Lima was edited and misrepresented in the circulating fake graphic.

The original picture was published on De Lima’s official FB page on Feb. 14. It showed the three of them alongside other environmental and animal welfare advocates at the House on Feb. 10, filing two bills and a resolution that sought to promote animal welfare, plant-based health, and the investigation of environmental issues.

During the photo op, Lustre was asked about her opinion on the impeachment complaints filed against Duterte and President Ferdinand Marcos. She said: “No comment.”

The untrue claim circulated amid the filing of multiple impeachment raps this month against the vice president. On Feb. 18, the same day Duterte announced her bid for the presidency in 2028, a fourth complaint was filed by lawyer Nathaniel Cabrera.

The fraudulent graphic card published by TikTok account @trend_pinass has so far obtained 58,000 views and 674 engagements. As of writing, the copies posted by two FB users have collectively garnered 8,484 reactions; 1,882 comments; and 123 shares.
