In the wake of a severe thunderstorm that hit the northern portions of Metro Manila on Aug. 30, a video circulating on Facebook claims to show footage of a raging flood supposedly on Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. This is false.
This is an old clip taken in Talisay, Batangas during the onslaught of Typhoon Kristine in 2024.
Published on Aug. 31, the 23-second video shows vehicles being swept away by strong currents of floodwaters. It has an overlaid text that read:
“Bumuhos ang malakas na baha dito sa Quezon avenue city”
The post has a caption saying:
“Mga sasakyan tinangay ng malakas na Baha. #flood #news #latest“

A reverse image search using Google led to a video posted by local radio station Brigada Batangas on Oct. 24, 2024. The original video of the raging flood has a caption saying that it was taken in Barangay Sampaloc, Talisay, Batangas during Typhoon Kristine.
Radyo Pilipinas Lucena shared the same video on the same day. It wrote:
“PANUORIN: Natangay ng baha ang ilang mga sasakyan habang rumaragasa ang tubig na may kasamang putik, mga troso at bato sa kalsada sa Barangay Sampaloc, Talisay, Batangas kasabay ng malakas na ulan dulot ng Bagyong Kristine kahapon.”
Both radio channels credited the video to a Facebook user who first uploaded the original clip in Oct. 2024.
The false video surfaced following the heavy torrential rain that caused severe flooding in many parts of Quezon City on Aug. 30.
