A quote card circulating on Facebook claims Rep. Lordan Suan of Cagayan De Oro City castigated overseas Filipino workers allegedly for being ungrateful to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This is fake.
Published on March 9 by an FB page posting mostly pro-Duterte content, the quote card has side-by-side photos of the congressman and the president, and a large white bold text against a dark background. It said:
“Kayong mga OFW, wala kayong utang na loob sa ating Presidente. Pahayag ni Rep. Lordan Suan sa mga OFW matapos sabihing hindi umano alam ng Pangulo ang kanyang ginagawa.
(You OFWs, you are ungrateful to our president. Rep. Lordan Suan told OFWs after they allegedly said the president does not know what he’s been doing).”
The quote card carried a red label identifying Suan as representative of Cagayan De Oro City.
A reader asked VERA Files Misinformation Tip Line to check the veracity of the quote card’s claim.
The congressman took to his official FB page on March 10 to deny the circulating graphic, calling it “fake news” designed to mislead the public and damage his name.

Disowning the quote card, Suan urged the public to check and verify information, with a step-by-step action included in his post.
Serving as Cagayan De Oro’s 1st District representative since 2022, the lawmaker has been active in filing progressive legislation, most notably the Anti-Political Dynasty Act, which he described as “necessary and urgent.”
VERA Files has debunked several pieces of misinformation about him, including fake quote cards, a fraudulent post alleging he signed Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment complaint in exchange for ayuda, and a doctored video clip misusing comedian Vice Ganda’s likeness.
The fake quote card appears to have capitalized on the growing anxiety among OFWs and their families amid the escalating war in the Middle East, where millions of Filipinos work and where the government has been criticized for its slow repatriation response.
As of writing, the fake quote card published by Birada Kagay-an (created on Jan. 23, 2025) garnered over 44,000 reactions; 15,900 comments; and 1,800 shares.
