A quote card circulating on Facebook falsely claims that Vice President Sara Duterte has threatened to tie up former senator Antonio Trillanes IV, place him in a sack, then throw him into the West Philippine Sea once she becomes president. This is false.
First posted by an FB page on April 26, the post falsely attributes this statement to VP Sara:
“Hindi kita kakasuhan sa lahat ng paninira mo sa akin, alam ko kasi kapag kinasuhan kita at nakulong ka may pag-asa pa ring makalaya ka. Pero tandaan mo ito: sa oras na makaupo ako bilang Pangulo ng bansa, itatali ko ang kamay at tuhod mo, isisilid kita sa sako, at ipapatapon kita sa West Philippine Sea, para wala ka nang kawala. Good luck sa’yo sa 2028.
(I will not file charges against you for all the attacks and smear campaigns you made against me. I know that if I sue you and you get jailed, there’s still a chance you could be released. But remember this: once I become president of the country, I will tie your hands and knees, put you in a sack, and have you thrown into the West Philippine Sea so you can never escape. Good luck to you in 2028)”
The post repeated the fabricated quote in its caption, adding the remark “PATAY KANG BATA KA: 🤣🤣” (“YOU’RE DEAD, KID”) and hashtags including #SaraDuterte, #WestPhilippineSea, #2028, #StrongLeader, and #OfficialStatement.
The quote card was later reposted by several FB users and circulated among pro-Duterte groups amid escalating tensions between the vice president and Trillanes.
While it was reported that Sara threatened to exhume the remains of former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr. and throw these into the West Philippine Sea amid her feud with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in October 2024, there is no verified record that she made a similar threat to Trillanes.
On April 22, Trillanes testified during the House impeachment hearings against the vice president, accusing her family of receiving millions of pesos from a supposed drug lord. Their political feud further intensified as Duterte will soon face trial before the impeachment court. .
