THEY maneuvered their wheelchairs under the light morning rainshower, through wet roads leading to Luneta Park and the muddy grounds of the Quirino Grandstand. Those who use crutches trudged the same path.

There, they met up with people who have lost their speech, vision, or hearing or have other forms of disabilities with a common goal: To express their indignation over the scandalous misuse of public funds.

About 150 people with disabilities (PWDs) from different disabled peoples organizations in Metro Manila joined an estimated 100,000 Filipinos who turned out for the Aug. 26 “Million People March” that clamored for the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund, or pork barrel, of senators and congressmen.
