A quote card circulating online attributes a statement to actress Sunshine Cruz claiming that former president Rodrigo Duterte accomplished more during his administration than President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. This is fake.

Since Oct. 24, Facebook users have been sharing a graphic featuring photos of Cruz and Marcos. It came with a text quoting the actress as saying:

“MAY MAS NAGAWA PA SI DUTERTE SA BANSA KAYSA KAY BONGBONG MARCOS (Duterte has accomplished more for the country than Bongbong Marcos)!”

One of the posts also carried this caption:

“Ano sa palagay nyo (sic) mga lodi sa sinabi ni Sunshine Cruz (What do you guys think about what Sunshine Cruz said)??? Comment down.”

This quote is fabricated. In an Oct. 25 post, Cruz’ official FB page disowned the circulating quote card as “fake” and advised netizens to research and verify first before believing anything online.

In an Oct. 25 statement, Sunshine Cruz disowned the quote as “fake” and clarified that she keeps her “political beliefs strictly private among trusted circles.”

“To reiterate, I keep my political beliefs strictly PRIVATE among trusted circles. That goes entirely against who I am and I would never engage in such behavior,” part of her statement read.

There are no reports of Cruz expressing support for the Dutertes while in power, or for any other politicians.

The last time she publicly expressed her political beliefs was when she declared support for the Pamilya Ko partylist, which failed to secure a seat in the 2025 elections.

The fake quote has been circulating since May but has resurfaced this month as the Marcos-Duterte feud intensifies.

In an Oct. 20 statement, Vice President Sara Duterte called on the Marcos administration to “start working and stop politicking,” claiming that the government has shifted its narrative in “taking her down” by framing issues such as an alleged Chinese-linked business venture as a national security concern.

Malacañang has since described as “katawa-tawa” or extremely ridiculous Duterte’s statement. According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the vice president is in no position to talk, given her own frequent personal trips

VERA Files has debunked other fake posts about celebrities supposedly expressing support to the Dutertes.
