A Facebook page posted a video clip claiming that United States President Donald Trump prefers President Ferdinand Marcos over former president Rodrigo Duterte. This is fake.
The clip is fabricated using AI-generated audio layered over unrelated footage.
Accompanying the footage posted on March 5 is a text that reads:
“MAS GUSTO NI TRUMP SI MARCOS KESA KAY DUTERTE
MAS MASUNURIN DAW SI MARCOS
(Trump likes Marcos over Duterte
Marcos is more obedient)”
In the audio, Trump can be heard saying:
“Somebody asked me, ‘Who do I prefer, Duterte or Marcos?’ To be honest, Duterte is very tough– very strong, not easy to deal with, he really stands his ground. But Marcos. I like Marcos. Very easy, just says yes to what I want. Very quick, very obedient.
Honestly, much easier to work with.”
There is no official transcript, news report or briefing showing Trump making such a statement. While Trump met with Marcos in July 2025 during which he praised the Philippine president’s leadership, he did not say he likes Marcos over Duterte nor did he compare them.

A reverse image search of the video’s keyframes of the viral Trump clip suggests that the visuals were repurposed from previous public appearances of the U.S. president. However, because the clip was heavily zoomed in, the search did not lead to a specific original event.
The clip was cluttered with added elements and texts that standard visual detection tools were unable to flag it as manipulated. Only after extracting the audio did InVID analysis reveal AI fragments.
The clip was circulated as the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte was moving forward in the House of Representatives, and after the ICC’s confirmation charges hearing for former president Rodrigo Duterte concluded in The Hague.
As of writing, the FB clip has so far garnered 6,500 reactions; 1,400 comments; and 956 shares.
